Every year, when winter rolls around, I find that I have to switch up my skincare. For the most part of the year, I have relatively oily/normal skin, however during the chilly weather when my skin feels drier, gone are the days of foaming cleansers and light moisturisers as I make my grand entrance into the once foreign territory of hydration central. For the majority of this winter, I’ve been following this routine and I can definitely notice a difference in my skin.
First step is makeup removal. I swear by the Garnier Micellar Water. I just soak a cotton round in some of the solution and wipe it over my face. It’s like a magnet and just draws out every last trace of makeup. Alternatively, if I’m having a lazy day I’ll reach for makeup wipes. Lately I’ve been trying out the Garnier Micellar Makeup Wipes and I really like them!
Next, I cleanse my face with the Essano Moisturising Cream Cleanser. I used to be a foam cleasnser kind of gal, but I’ve noticed that they just dry my skin out too much in the winter months. This cream cleanser just feels like I’m rubbing moisturiser over my face, and once I’m done my face feels clean, but not as if it’s stripped of all its moisture. It also contains rose hip, which as you’ll notice throughout the post that I’m a little obsessed with.
Once my face is fresh and clean, it’s time to hydrate! First I apply 4-5 drops of the Sukin Rose Hip Oil all over my face and neck. My skin just soaks this right up. I’ve been using it for years and I can’t live without it. I definitely notice a difference in my skin if I don’t use it for a few days, which is just a testament to how good it is!
Once the rose hip oil has absorbed into my skin, I apply the Sukin Moisture Restoring Night Cream. A lot of night creams can be quite thick and heavy on my skin, but this one is the perfect consistency for me. It leaves my skin feeling incredible, and I think that’s account to it’s wonderful natural ingredients.
Regardless of all the lotions and potions we put on our skin, sometimes its not enough and my skin is still left feeling rough and dry. Therefore, 1-2 times a week I’ll use a face scrub to get rid of all the dead, dry skin. My favourite is the St. Ives Apricot Scrub, which has been another holy grail of mine for years. I know a lot of people don’t like it and think it’s too harsh, but honestly I love it and have never had a problem with it.
Now we can’t neglect the lips can we? I use Lucas’ Paw Paw ointment on my lips every night and I wake up with my lips feeling so soft! Plus, it’s a multi purpose product and can be used on burn, rashes, insect bites and more! Its such a miracle worker!
I also like to use a face mask about once a week. Some of my favourites include the Formula 10.0.06 masks, also the Garnier tissue masks are great.
There is my winter skincare routine! I hope you enjoyed!
