Last year I did a post all about my winter skincare routine, so I thought it was only fitting that since it is now summer, that I do an updated skincare routine for the current season. The routine itself doesn’t differ too much from my winter routine, however the products I use have changed slightly.
My skin tends to get oilier as the weather gets warmer, therefore my main focus with skincare at the moment is controlling my oiliness, without drying out my skin, and ensuring I don’t leave any heavy residual products on my skin, because who wants that in the middle of a heatwave? Not me.
One of my goals this year was to make skincare a priority, so without further ado, here is my summer skincare routine.
Updated Skincare Routine
If I’m wearing makeup that day, I start with my Garnier Micellar Water. Micellar water in general is incredible at removing makeup, and Garnier’s one is extremely adorable and does the job. I take a cotton round saturated in the water and wipe it all over my face. If I’m wearing particularly heavy makeup that day, I more often than not will repeat this a second time. Makeup removal done!
Once my skin is free of makeup, it’s time to cleanse. Lately, to clean my face, I’ve been using the Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser in conjunction with my Clarasonic Mia 2. This cleanser contains a gentle exfoliant to smooth out the skin, and its baking soda properties work to clean out the pores, minimising breakouts.
About twice a week, I will exfoliate using the St Ives Apricot Scrub. This is a product I’ve noticed many people love to hate, however I’ve been using it for years with no problems. Do what works for you, right?
Now it’s time to put the moisture back into my skin. First I massage some Sukin Rose Hip Oil all over my face, and once that has fully absorbed I will apply a light layer of the Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturiser for sensitive skin.
I’ve been trying to get back into the habit of doing a weekly face mask, with success so far. My favourites lately are from Sukin and they both are part of a multi masking kit. First is their Anti- Pollution mask containing charcoal which is good for when my skin is having a moment and breaking out, and second is their Hydrating mask which is great for adding moisture to the skin.
That concludes all the products that make up my skincare routine this summer! Like previously mentioned, I’m really aiming at developing consistency in my skincare routine this year and so I’m doing a good job *pats back*.
What’s your skincare must have?
