Jumpsuits are a relatively new found love of mine. Up until recently, I’d found myself avoiding jumpsuits/playsuits due to an assumption of mine that they wouldn’t look good on me. So you can imagine my surprise one sunny afternoon when I bit the bullet, tried one on, and discovered ‘hey, this doesn’t look too bad!’.
Reflecting on that experience, I’ve got some advice for you. Even if you believe something won’t work for you fashion-wise, TRY IT ON! You never truly know how something will look on you until you’re actually wearing it. In my case, jumpsuits aren’t as terrible as I first thought they would be, I actually quite love them. They flow like a dress, with the comfort of pants – who wouldn’t want that?!
On a more serious note, this experience sparked something in me, and I want to have a bit of a chat about comfort zones.
A large portion of my 19 year long life has been spent existing in a cushy little bubble one would call a comfort zone.
Doing this has taught me that it is impossible to grow, improve and live a fulfilling life in a mindset so focused on negativity and the “worst possible outcome”. It has also taught me that I no longer can allow negative experiences that belong in the past to dictate how I live my life.
Of course, it’s important to have a comfort zone. This comfort zone should be used as a gauge to push yourself, to learn about yourself and the wonderful world around you.
It’s important to remember where you come from, but also to not be afraid of making mistakes. Because in reality, that is the biggest mistake of all.
Back to the outfit…
Jumpsuit: Valleygirl. I’m unsure if they still sell this exact one, but they are always releasing similar items.
What things have you achieved when you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone?
