2018 Favourites | Day 11

With just over a week of 2018 left (eeeek!), I’m reflecting a lot. About my personal life, my studies, the goals I set. I’ve spoken a bit about some of those topics already and today I’m doing some more reflecting and will be talking about all of the things I’ve been loving during the year. Makeup, films, apps, food and more!

I haven’t done a favourites post in so long, so there are plenty of things to share.

I’ve decided to select a number categories and share one winner for each category, with some honourable mentions along the way. Think of it kind of like the “2018 awards”.

So without further ado, these are a few of my favourite things…of 2018.

Beauty product

My favourite beauty product this year is theΒ Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. I have been on the hunt for a new, great mascara for what feels like ages and since I’ve finally found it, I had to include it in my yearly favourites.

Tv Show

This Is Us returned for its third season this year and I have been loving it. Although the complete season hasn’t aired yet, season 3 focuses a lot on Jack’s life prior to meeting Rebecca, and it is really interesting to be given more insight into his life before Rebecca and the Big Three.

I’m not normally a fan of scary movies, but I plucked up the courage to watch A Quiet Place this year and oh my goodness, it was incredible. Another film I loved and had to include wasΒ something more light-hearted – Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

This year I enjoyed listening to bands such as The 1975 and the Arctic Monkeys; however, specific songs I loved from 2018 are ShotgunΒ by George Ezra, Solo by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato and Summer by The Carters. Another song that was on repeat that isn’t from this year, but one I discovered this year was Violet by The Bad Suns.

My favourite book that I read this year would have to be Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I started reading the series at the start of this year and I absolutely fell in love with it. A special mention also goes to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.

As I’ve gotten back into reading this year, I’ve found the app Goodreads to be really handy. It allows me to track my reading and also save books I’d like to read in the future.

Wardrobe piece

I’ve been obsessed with maxi skirts this summer. They’re so effortless to wear and they keep you cool while still looking stylish.

I couldn’t do a yearly favourites post without including food! Kit Kat released a ‘gold’ edition of their chocolate this year, something people quickly compared to Cadbury’s limited edition ‘Caramilk’. Since I never got around to trying Caramilk as it was always sold out, I had it make sure I tried Kit Kat Gold and it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

Social media platform

This year was the year I really fell in love with Twitter. From about mid-year onwards, it took over from Instagram as my favourite social media platform. Instagram has been a little upsetting for many people this year, including myself, so I turned to Twitter and haven’t looked back.

What are some of the things you loved in 2018?

  1. So many great things in this post!! I want to check it all out. I haven’t seen A Quiet Place or Mamma Mia yet (I know- I need to get on that!!). I have heard such great things about both. I have also been really enjoying twitter this year (especially while watching TV shows to see reactions). Thanks for sharing, girl!
